Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo

26 July 2015

After discovering that there’s actually no direct ferry from Napoli to Genova, we decided to drive back overland and explore more of Bella Italia :-)
Our first stop was the amazing green & mountaneous Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo.

On our way to our hosts in Opi, this fox was checking us out from the side of the road.

Since we love being in nature, we went for a hike near Lago di Barrea.

Chris found some Juniper berries which are used to make Gin. They smell like Gin :-)

Even in the wild nature the Italians are very hospitable. We met Marco who was camping with his friends. He offered us a beer and showed us the fishes that they caught in the lake. Cool guys!

While relaxing at Lago di Barrea after our hike, two fire fighting airplanes came to the lake to take up water. An impressive spectacle!
